Gail Hailstorm (Cheri Oteri) is the hidden villainess of the 2000 horror spoof film Scary Movie. Being an expy of Gale Weathers from the horror film Scream, Gail was also a reporter who arrived in the movie's town to report on the murder spree that was beginning. She also stated that she was the author of a book called You're Dead, I'm Rich. In her first scene reporting at the high school, she became annoyed by a teenager who was goofing around behind her and shot him with a gun she pulled out before making a note that now two teens were dead (the first victim being Drew Decker, who was killed in the opening). She also berated her cameraman Kenny and tried to seduce/manipulate mentally challenged police officer Doofy. In another scene, Gail was shown trying to get an interview with a survivor of the killer's rampage Cindy Campbell (the movie's protagonist) and made a derogatory comment towards her. Angered, Cindy punched Gail.
Later on, Gail was shown doing a report at Lover's Lookout, talking to teenager Heather about how her boyfriend had left to investigate a strange sound and had been gone for a while. Suddenly, The Killer appeared, pulled Heather from the car, and began stabbing her. Gail continued to report about the scene, ignoring Heather's pleas for help. After throwing Heather's body to the ground, The Killer began chasing Gail and Kenny through the woods, catching and presumably killing Kenny. As Gail hid, she looked to the camera and apologized to Kenny's family as snot squirted out of her nose profusely (the scene serving as a parody of the infamous "Heather Talking To The Camera" scene from The Blair Witch Project).
Gail's villainous reveal didn't come until the very end of the movie, right after it was revealed that Doofy was The Killer and had been faking his mental retardation to avoid suspicions. As Doofy took off his disguise, a car pulled up behind him, the driver being none other than Gail. Doofy hopped into the car and kissed Gail, revealing that the two were lovers. The villainous couple then sped away before Cindy and the Sheriff (having just now realized that Doofy was the killer) could stop them.
