QueenGremla GO

From the game cover

Queen Gremla
is the primary antagonist of the 1987 side-scrolling action game "Game Over".

Game OverEdit

From the instruction manual: "Far away in a different Galaxy, at a different time, control was exercised by an all-powerful woman - the Ruler, GREMLA... But Gremla was flawed - as her power grew, so did her greed and cruelty - at last ARKOS turned - resolved to stop this megalomaniac, to use all his skill and cunning to destroy her empire, subdue her dynasty ... GAME OVER."

As was the style at the time in the 1980's, this title is very sparse when it comes to in-game story details. Neither narrative nor dialogue takes place throughout. Upon defeating the final boss, "Giant Guardian" a black screen flashes "GAME OVER" before swiftly returning to the title screen. In short, if not for the title screen one wouldn't even know that this character was in this game.

Game Over IIEdit

In the sequel, a male protagonist, Major LOCKE, is searching for ARKOS, the protagonist of the previous title, who was captured by Gremla's successors. Oddly, Gremla appears on both the cover and title screen, but is nowhere to be found past that, just like in the first game. In fact, the plot synopsis suggests that Gremla was killed before the events of this game even take place.
