Flora & Dora

Abusive bullies Flora (left) and Dora (right)

Flora (Maxine Gates; 1917-1990) and Dora (Lu Leonard; 1926-2004) are the antagonists from Husbands Beware, a Three Stooges short released on January 5, 1956.

Flora and Dora are Shemp's sisters and the new wives of Moe and Larry, respectively, and the opening of the short showed the two couples saying their "I Do"s to each other. Moe and Larry expressed gratitude to Shemp for introducing them to his sisters, but when they were preparing themselves for a kiss from their new wives, Flora and Dora decked their husbands, showing their true colors as bullies.

The abusive antagonists ordered Moe and Larry to prepare dinner for them, and also snapped at Shemp after tossing their husbands towards the kitchen. The Stooges' faulty cooking made a bad impression on Flora and Dora; not only were they unable to eat Shemp's muffins, but the coffee had a terrible taste due to soap being accidentally knocked into the pot. After Dora discovered the soap, she and Flora falsely accused Moe and Larry of attempting to poison them, leading to the pair throwing their husbands out of the house. They later turned their abuse to Shemp; throwing him out for introducing them to Moe and Larry.
